A calming hobby to keep your hands busy and your mind calm.
Crochet is made with yarn and a hook, and that's it. It's simple, and yet you can make all kinds of things with it, from blankets to clothing to toys to accessories like scarves and hats, and so much more.
You'll learn how to crochet if you don't know how yet, or you'll learn tips and tricks and more advanced techniques that'll help you enjoy crochet more if you already know the basics.
Plus, unlike traditional kinds of online classes, this one is like a living workshop – it'll be updated over time so you'll get more and more help, tips, lessons and inspiration as time passes. All for your one-time registration fee.
From tutorials that have stood the test of time to brand new photos and videos to help you out to patterns and tips and tricks.
Hello! I'm so excited to meet you in class. I'm Kim, and I'm a writer and craft instructor specializing in helping folks explore their creativity, try new things and have fun doing it. I firmly believe that perfection is boring, so my main goal is for my students to have fun, celebrate mistakes, and keep practicing until they get the hang of it. I'm here to cheer and nudge you along as you go.
I've written six crochet books and a book about making ugly things on purpose as a way to confront our creative demons, and I teach crochet at Craftsy. I also host a Community of Creative Adventurers, which is where you'll find me for help as you progress through my classes, and where you can connect with other folks from all over the world who also enjoy making things and talking about it (we have free weekly video chats – you should come!)
I'm a co-founder and publisher of Nine Ten Publications, a Canadian company focused on fibre- and textile craft, art and industry.
I live in Vancouver, Canada, with my family and our mutt.

Clear, precis instructions. I will now adapt the way I hold my yarn! I also noticed how smoothly Kim kept the tail out of the way - that's been awkward for me. I'm off to make chains, chains, an...
Read MoreThe instructions (oral and written) are detailed and clear. Thank you for the patterns. Need to be able to read them by taking your advance classes. Thank you Kim! Linda
I didn’t fully understand how to crochet until I found your class.
I feel so privileged to have learned so much from you in your online classes & now I can’t picture my days without crochet (especially throughout the pandemic). 🎉🧶
Kim is a great instructor. She shows her students, very slowly how to crochet new fabric with any of the basic stitches we learned in class. Thank You Kim, for sharing the world of knowledge, at least some of what you have learned.
